Baryte – Exceptional Gem-Clear Double-Terminated Honey Crystal on Matrix
Specifications
Description
Ex. Weinrich Collection An extraordinary and refined baryte specimen from the Linwood Mine, representing the pinnacle of quality for this classic American locality. This piece features a superb gem-quality, double-terminated baryte crystal of remarkable size and purity, elegantly displayed on a minimal, well-balanced matrix. The primary crystal rises prominently to 7.5 cm in height, exhibiting a fully transparent, water-clear to warm honey coloration that is exceptionally even throughout. Unlike the majority of Linwood barytes—which often show internal cloudiness or zoning—this crystal is remarkably pristine, allowing light to pass cleanly through its interior and producing a luminous, almost glass-like presence. The crystal displays razor-sharp edges and perfectly defined faces, with an outstanding vitreous luster that gives it a polished, mirror-like brilliance. Its double-terminated form is particularly noteworthy, with both terminations well-formed and intact—an uncommon and highly desirable feature for baryte of this size and clarity. The supporting matrix is intentionally sparing and unobtrusive, serving as a natural pedestal that enhances the visual impact of the crystal without distraction. This minimalist presentation creates a highly balanced and sculptural aesthetic, allowing the baryte to dominate the composition with elegance and poise. Provenance further elevates the importance of this specimen. It originates from the personal collection of Dan and Diana Weinrich, with Dan Weinrich having handled many of the finest Linwood baryte specimens during the peak production years of circa 2010–2012. Pieces of this caliber were selectively retained, making this example both historically and aesthetically significant. Combining exceptional clarity, outstanding luster, rare double termination, and elite provenance, this specimen stands as a museum-quality example of Linwood baryte—a true connoisseur’s piece and a standout among American mineral classics. https://vimeo.com/1043766859
