Description

A striking Blue Aragonite specimen from Yunnan Province, China, notable for its saturated turquoise to sky-blue color and beautifully rounded botryoidal form. The specimen presents as a sculptural plate of smooth, bulbous Aragonite growths, with large rounded hemispheres rising across the face in an attractive, cloud-like arrangement. The color is the defining feature: an intense, even blue with subtle tonal variation from deeper cyan in the thicker zones to softer pale blue along thinner, translucent edges. The surface shows a pleasing satiny to softly waxy luster, enhancing the specimen’s smooth, rounded contours and giving it a refined, almost porcelain-like visual quality. Along the margins, thin pale rims and slightly translucent zones reveal the mineral’s layered growth structure, adding depth and contrast to the vivid blue interior. The composition is especially aesthetic, with several prominent rounded lobes arranged in a balanced tiered formation. The specimen has strong visual presence from multiple angles, showing both the polished-looking botryoidal front and a more fibrous, pale blue to greenish underside along the back and basal edge. This contrast between saturated blue rounded forms and lighter marginal textures gives the piece excellent dimensionality. A highly displayable Blue Aragonite from China, desirable for its rich color saturation, smooth botryoidal habit, pleasing luster, and sculptural presentation.
