Description

Ex. William and Ruth Loomis Collection An elegant and highly collectible Paprok specimen, this piece showcases a striking, prismatic Elbaite Tourmaline crystal rising prominently from a sculptural matrix of Smoky Quartz. The tourmaline, measuring approximately 5.6 cm in length, is exceptionally well-formed with crisp vertical striations and a complex, sharply defined termination that reflects the refined growth conditions typical of this famed locality. The crystal exhibits superb internal transparency and a captivating sequence of color zoning. At its core and termination, vivid pink hues dominate, while the central body transitions into a rich, saturated green—evoking the classic “watermelon” tourmaline aesthetic, though with a more vertically layered presentation. A delicate, near-colorless intermediary zone subtly separates the green and upper pink regions, adding depth and visual complexity. The luster is bright and vitreous across the prism faces, enhanced by the fine linear striations that catch and reflect light with precision. The tourmaline is partially embraced by a single, softly lustrous Smoky Quartz crystal, whose translucent, warm-toned body provides both contrast and compositional balance. The quartz exhibits natural surface texture and minor contact features, consistent with undisturbed growth. This specimen’s appeal lies in its harmonious combination of color, form, and locality significance. Paprok tourmalines of this caliber—featuring strong zoning, excellent transparency, and aesthetic quartz association—remain highly sought after in advanced collections.
