Description

A striking and well-developed example of Faden Quartz, distinguished by its elongated, blade-like form and the clearly defined internal “faden” thread running axially through the crystal. This specimen exhibits the classic tensile-growth feature that defines the variety—a milky, fibrous line formed during repeated fracturing and healing events within an active tectonic environment. The crystal displays a highly sculptural, segmented habit, with a series of stepped, blocky growth zones along its length. These pseudo-hexagonal segments give the piece a totemic, almost architectural appearance, further enhanced by sharp edges and well-preserved faces. The termination is flattened and slightly irregular, consistent with faden growth dynamics rather than classic quartz point formation. Transparency ranges from clear to translucent, with internal veils and wispy inclusions accentuating the central faden line. The luster is bright vitreous across the better-developed faces, contrasting with slightly frosted or textured क्षेत्रों where growth was interrupted or modified. At the base, smaller subsidiary quartz crystals radiate outward, forming a natural pedestal that supports the main blade and adds visual complexity. These secondary crystals are more delicate and prismatic, offering a pleasing contrast to the dominant, flattened morphology of the main crystal. This specimen is particularly appealing for its size, clarity of the faden feature, and the pronounced stepped growth pattern—attributes that elevate it above more common, less defined examples. It stands as an excellent representation of tectonically influenced quartz crystallization from this well-known Pakistani locality.
