Red Zircon on Matrix

This is a great combination specimen from the famous pegmatites of Shigar, which features a handful of extremely sharp Topaz crystals, each topped with a complex termination, protruding through a matrix of white Cleavelandite blades and minor associations of Quartz. The Topaz crystals are completely gem-clear, colorless, and complemented with a strong glassy luster. The largest (or most exposed) of these Topaz crystals reaches 1.9 centimeters above the matrix. Minor associations of Mica are isolated around the specimen, most of which have a rich brown color and a bright luster.
