Titanite with Actinolite on Calcite – Gem Honey-Golden Twin Crystal on Matrix
Specifications
Description
An elegant small-cabinet specimen centered by a richly colored, gemmy titanite crystal measuring 3 cm across, dramatically set within a pale calcite matrix and accented by fine black actinolite needles. The titanite is the unmistakable focal point: a sharp, wedge-shaped crystal with broad, lustrous faces and a striking honey-golden to cognac-brown color zoning. Under direct light, the crystal reveals superb internal fire, with bright yellow, amber, and orange reflections flashing through its transparent to translucent body. The crystal form is particularly attractive, showing well-defined titanite geometry with sharp edges, clean termination, and stepped growth textures across several faces. Subtle surface striations and natural growth markings add character without diminishing the specimen’s aesthetic presence. The darker smoky-brown zones near the upper and central portions contrast beautifully with the glowing golden windows, giving the piece exceptional depth and visual drama. The matrix is composed of lustrous, pale cream to off-white calcite, providing a sculptural base around the titanite. Scattered through and around the calcite are slender, black acicular actinolite crystals, some arranged in small sprays and clusters. These dark needles create a refined graphic contrast against both the luminous titanite and the soft calcite, lending the specimen a sophisticated, architectural quality. The composition is well-balanced from multiple display angles, with the titanite rising prominently from the matrix while remaining naturally framed by the associated minerals. The combination of sharp crystal form, saturated golden color, strong transparency, dramatic actinolite contrast, and undamaged presentation makes this a fine and highly displayable titanite specimen from Mulla Ghori, Pakistan.
