Pyrite

Pyrite is iron sulfide and a classic collector mineral, admired for its brassy metallic luster, sharp cubic, pyritohedral, and octahedral crystals, and striking natural geometry. Fine specimens may show mirror-bright faces, crisp edges, penetration twins, striations, or sculptural clusters on matrix. Collectors value pyrite for its architectural crystal form, brilliant reflectivity, affordability across quality levels, and strong locality character. Exceptional examples from Spain, Peru, Italy, China, Navajún in Spain, and the United States can range from elegant thumbnails to dramatic cabinet showpieces.
